If it does I am ditching lump on this cooker. I am going to run with briquettes in the early morning and toss a brisket on. I was using Expert Griller Charcoal from walmart for $5 for 16lbs. It settled right in and other than when the basket needed a shake or the water pan needed filled it sat like a rock on temp.
It was easier to control it with briquettes. Both are very stable but the briquettes produced a much longer burn time. It was about 250-260 on briquettes vs 290 on lump. It ran cooler on about the same vent setting. Had to shake the basket some but other than that it was set it and forget it. I still had plenty of fuel to keep going.įew things I noticed. I got 15 hours before I had to shut it down. Using a half chimney full of briquettes to light it.
I have been wanting to try it for myself for awhile. Whats the longest burn time you have gotten on your Sumo on one load of charcoal? Typically on lump its about 8-10 hours which is right about what the manufacturer says.
